Measuring What Matters

There’s no denying that businesses place a lot of weight on numbers. Every aspect of a company’s operations is dissected, analyzed, and often compared against its peers. In our industry, ProSales Magazine utilizes numbers from a variety of categories to compile its annual listing of the Top 100 distributors nationwide, and I’m excited to say Lansing Building Products holds the #15 position. ProSales ranks the distributors based on revenue. It’s great to receive this accolade and recognition of our team members’ dedicated efforts. It’s truly a team effort.

As a company we measure ourselves and the success of our business in many ways, mostly numeric. To continue company growth, measuring sales is certainly important; but the most critical measurement is naturally the most challenging to gauge or quantify and that is Culture.
To measure what matters within our culture we must daily ask ourselves:

  1. Is LBP making a positive difference in the lives of its Associates?
  2. Is LBP living its Mission Statement of respect, service, excellence and the highest ethical standards, while forming meaningful relationships with customers?

Measuring what truly matters will form the solid base needed for continued growth and success. As we remain focused on our culture, our other numbers will reflect it.
