BOM Meeting Highlights

Our Moments of Excellence theme, announced at our national sales meeting, continued into our national BOM (Branch Operations Managers) meeting. During the meeting I noted that, to me, Operational Excellence is a choice in how well we operate to provide Superior Service to our customers. Providing superior service is fundamental here at LBP and one of the three core values contained in our Mission Statement. Our leadership team is making operations a priority by OPS checks each time they visit a branch. Operational excellence is vital to our long-range success, and we ALL need to up our game.

Billy Mosby, Chief Operations Officer, further expanded on this theme by providing our associates an easy checklist of things that MUST be done daily — there can be no exceptions or excuses, and no one is ever too busy to accomplish them. His list includes: Say Thank You; Double Check every outgoing order; Scan every received PO to COS; Ship tickets daily; Process and put away returns daily; Daily deposit; Send in price changes daily; and ASK for help.

Additional work sessions focused on making Day’s Work in a Day’s Time a priority and hiring, training, developing, cross-training, and retaining outstanding team members. As Stephen Covey said, “Don’t prioritize your schedule, schedule your priorities.”

It was a great opportunity for all our BOMs from across the nation to gather together to learn and also share ideas and best practices. Thanks to all those who worked so hard organizing this outstanding training event.
