Building Hope in a Situation Nobody Hopes to Face

Lansing’s purpose is to make a positive impact in people’s lives.

Recently, we had the pleasure of volunteering with a group that shares our Mission.

16,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year in the United States. The Roc Solid Foundation’s mission is to make a positive impact by building hope for every child and family fighting pediatric cancer.

The Lansing Foundation organized a community service project in our three National Meetings where associate volunteers assembled over 600 Ready Bags given to families when they find out their child has cancer. Each bag includes toiletries, a blanket, a journal, a tablet, and other essentials. These items help a family with certain needs during a hospital stay, as a child typically is admitted immediately after diagnosis to begin treatment. Over 100 children’s hospitals throughout the country distribute these bags.

Roc Solid Chief Play Officer Eric Newman shared with our associates that Ready Bags are “the first step toward building hope in a situation nobody ever hopes to face.”

It is our hope that our efforts to assist Roc Solid will help build that hope, reach children across the country, and have a positive impact on families during a difficult time.
