Serving Others

Our core value of service includes service to our community. Recently, a group of our home office associates and their family members participated in the Virginia Summer Special Olympics.  The Special Olympics was founded in 1968 with a mission to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. This gives them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other athletes and the community.

This year’s special 50th anniversary Summer Olympics involved 1500 athletes competing in swimming, softball, track and field, bowling and tennis. The LBP crew served as cheerleaders and timers for the swimming events. It was an incredibly satisfying and rewarding experience. We have been blessed by our community, and it felt good to join with others in giving back and serving others.
